Participation in the foire internationale agricole du nord (FIAN / International agricultural fair of the north)

The CSS contributes to the development of Saint-Louis

The first edition of the FIAN (International Agricultural Fair of the North) was held on 4, 5 and 6, June 2021 in Saint-Louis in the municipality of Diama. The place is symbolic, being first of all a border with Mauritania (another country with significant agricultural potential and participating in the event) and being linked to the issue of water, a crucial element for sustainable agricultural development.
Many participants from the local agricultural private sector responded to the call of this major trade fair which aims to make agriculture the engine of development in Africa.

The Compagnie Sucrière Sénégalaise wanted to mark its presence at this Fair. As a result, the Commercial Service Team and the Directorate of Plantation, supported by the General Manager in person, were dispatched to the site throughout the duration of the event to introduce visitors and other partners to the products and activities of the company. The booth recorded many visitors who came to discover and share together our passion for sugar cane. Schoolchildren and other students from the Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis as well as from training institutes in the region greatly appreciated the tasting of the sugar cane cuttings.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, panels on the challenges and development prospects of the agro-industrial sector in the region were held on the magnificent cruise ship Bou El Bogdad. The contribution of the CSS was fruitful, Mr. Franck EBA General Manager of the CSS and Expert in CSR had to present a brilliant presentation on the challenges of CSR and sustainable development in Africa. Previously, Mr. Amadou NDIAYE, Agricultural Engineer at the Directorate of Plantations delivered an attractive presentation on the agricultural activities of CSS and especially highlighting a major innovation, namely the introduction of technology (digital agriculture).
The event was the occasion for interesting and rich meetings with Senegalese, French and Mauritanian Companies and organizations from the agricultural sector. The plurality of actors and the expertise of each other greatly contributed to the success of the event.
Looking forward for the 2th Edition !!!
